Superheroes need rest too

You know, some days I feel extremely productive and aligned in my business and with my team. But there are days when I can't sit still, or muster up enough focus to complete even a simple task. Being a mom and a CEO definitely warrants the superhero title, if you ask me. But nothing is worse than also being the vessel that carries my own kryptonite, aka, my ADHD, anxiety, and depression.

Of course, it's absolutely frustrating to always feel like I am never being productive enough. And it sucks to feel like I am not reaching my goals or that I am ALWAYS behind. But the truth is, being a Neurodivergent Entrepreneur actually means I am capable of achieving so much more than many may think, including myself. The major key was learning to give myself space and forgive myself when my body and brain uncontrollably decide to take a time out.

Self-forgiveness is an important part of personal growth and success. When you forgive yourself for not always being as productive as you would like, it can help you to move past any guilt or shame you can't help but feel. It can also help you to focus on the positive aspects of allowing your body to rest when it wants and even recognize your strengths.

One of the first steps to self-forgiveness is to recognize that everyone has their own unique circumstances. Everyone has different abilities and limitations, and everyone's productivity will look different. I always have to remind myself that I am doing the best that I can with the resources and capabilities that I have.

Also, taking some time to reflect on your achievements and your successes can divert your negative thoughts to positive thoughts thus creating positive feelings. This can help to boost your confidence and give you a sense of pride in what you have accomplished despite what you may not be able to accomplish at the moment. You have to remember to celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Some days waking up and getting out the bed is a total win!

It also helps to practice self-compassion. Remembering that you are human and that it's okay to make mistakes and that every day will not be perfect or productive. Recognize that you are doing the best you can and that as long as you don't stop then you are doing amazing things despite the bad days.

Finally set intentions and prioritize self-care. Make a plan that works for you and how your brain and body function. Setting reasonable expectations can remove the unnecessary pressure and guilt of not reaching your max potential every single day.

By taking the time to forgive yourself, practicing self-care and self-compassion, and realizing you can still reach your goals no matter how hard the day has been, will do wonders for your confidence. I had to learn that despite my plaguing diagnosis, I am in fact extremely capable of achieving great things and should never let anything stop me from achieving my dreams. And neither should you!
